Fred Flintstone may be the key to solving this crime.

It happened Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at about 5 p.m.

“Two suspects went into the busy Arizona Mills Mall in Tempe,” Phoenix Police Sgt. Darren Burch (now retired) said.

“One of the men went inside the Capri Jewelers while the other stood outside the store acting as lookout.”

The suspect inside the jewelry store showed the employee a gun and said he wanted the chain and pendant the worker was holding.

Then he grabbed it from the employee’s hands and took off.

The pendant is a multi-colored, diamond-encrusted Fred Flintstone. Police believe the custom-made pendant will be the key to solving this crime.

Our next case takes us to the Walmart at 35th Avenue and Bethany Home Road on Sept. 17, 2013 at 9:30 a.m.

The suspect was inside the store. A clerk behind the customer service desk was handling a bank bag.

“The suspect walked up to the customer service desk and asked to use the phone,” Burch said.

“We think that might have been a ploy to divert her attention because he then grabbed the bank bag from her hands and ran out of the store.”

Investigators said it may have been a crime of opportunity.

The suspect may have been in the store legitimately and saw a chance for some quick cash.
