Phoenix police searching for suspect in 2013 armed robbery

Dec 31, 2018, 5:00 AM

Police have always told us, if someone with a weapon demands your purse or wallet, give it to them. Your life isn’t worth it.

That didn’t work so well for a telephone repairman working near 24th Street and Southern.

It was Oct. 15, 2013 at about 1 p.m.

“The suspect approached and attempted to rob him,” Phoenix Police Sgt. Darren Burch said. “The victim was complying with the demands. He was reaching into his back pocket for his wallet when the suspect shot him in the shoulder.”

Luckily, the man wasn’t seriously hurt.

Next, an important lesson for you if you’re a runner.

“Jogging at night, alone, is dangerous, especially if you’re a 17-year-old girl,” Burch said.

It happened on Sept. 9 at about 8 p.m. Suspect

The girl had her earbuds in as she ran near 56th Street and Osborn. She never heard or saw the man coming up behind her. He drove up in a dark-colored pickup, got out and grabbed the girl from behind.

He had her in a bear hug and tried to get her into the truck but the girl kicked him and yelled for help. He hit her in the face but let her go and took off.
