PHOENIX — If you say you have a weapon and you threaten force, it’s an armed robbery, says Phoenix Police Sgt. Darren Burch, adding that no weapon was actually seen in this Silent Witness case.
“This was Aug. 18, 2011, it was a Thursday, about 1:30 in the morning.”
A man walked into a Circle K at 75th Avenue and Peoria, went straight to the cooler, grabbed a beer and took it to the counter “as if he’s going to pay for it.”
“but, instead of paying for it, he then threatens to shoot the clerk if he doesn’t give him all his money.”
The surveillance camers caught it all, which means police have good pictures of the suspect.
“He’s a Hispanic male, about 30 years of age, 6-feet tall, thin to medium build,” says Burch. “He was wearing a black and white bandanna over his head and sun glasses. He was also wearing a plaid shirt and jeans.”
Burch says, “We need to get this guy off the street because this is a very serious crime — an armed robbery — and make an example that you can’t do this.”
