Tony Stromsness, 37, was riding his bike along Baseline Road at 17th Street around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday June 7, 2011 when a vehicle hit him from behind.
The vehicle took off, leaving Stromsness with a broken collarbone and head injuries.
Phoenix police sergeant Darren Burch says if the driver would have stayed at the scene it may have been a non-criminal matter.
Now, it’s a felony crime.
Stromsness’ mother, Marilyn, says it’s difficult to know that someone would leave her son there after he was hit.
“I hope someone comes forward, I hope they have enough decency to do that. I think Tony deserves an apology. He was hurt.”
