PHOENIX – The trifecta of evil. That’s how Phoenix Police Sergeant Darren Burch described this shocking crime.
A 90-year-old woman who lived by herself in the Ahwatukee area was at home when the unthinkable happened.
“(The) suspect enters her home, (and) she doesn’t know who he is,” Burch said. “He attacks her from behind, he not only grabs her from behind, he chokes her, throws her down onto the bed, (and) breaks her collarbone.”
She begins screaming in terror. That’s when the guy told her if she shut up and stayed put, he wouldn’t hurt her anymore.
“And then he went ahead and ransacked the house – the valuables, TV sets – I mean just completely cleaned out the house, and then used her car as a getaway vehicle.”
The car was later found at a nearby condominium complex.
This home invasion and attack happened Saturday, October 10th, 2009, just after 10 p.m. in a guarded, gated community near 12th Street and Pecos Road.
