Tempe police searching for armed robbery suspect

PHOENIX — The Tempe Police Department is searching for a man who robbed the Alamo Drafthouse with a gun Saturday morning.

According to authorities, a 5-foot-6, 200-pound black male, who is believed to be in his 50s, entered the Alamo Drafthouse in Tempe around 9 a.m.

Once inside, the suspect confronted an employee who was entering the establishment. The man brandished a black handgun and demanded money from the cash register.

The suspect then stole the employee’s vehicle, a 1997 Pontiac Bonneville with Arizona license plate CNE-5760, and fled the area.

No one was injured during the incident.

The man was last seen wearing a white hat, a gray long-sleeved shirt and tan cargo shorts. He had salt and pepper hair and was unshaven.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Authorities have said to avoid contact.
