PHOENIX – Phoenix police need help looking for the “holy moly bandit.” He has been given this name because he often wears a fake mole when he robs local businesses.

Phoenix Police Sgt. Darren Burch says his crime spree began in October, 2008 and since then he’s hit 14 east Valley stores, many of them along the Loop 202 freeway.

Once he picks his target, most often a beauty supply, card shop or shoe store, he will then go into the store with some type of item and walk up to the cash register.

Once the cashier opens the drawer, he either threatens to shoot them with a gun or he actually opens up his waistband and displays a gun and threatens to shoot them.

The suspect is described as a white or possibly Hispanic man, 20- to 30-years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing around 200 pounds. He is heavy set with short-dark hair and in some crimes, he has placed a fake mole on his cheek. He also may even wear a fake goat-tee mustache in some crimes.

Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
