Man arrested for shooting another man after fleeing scene on bicycle

PHOENIX — Christian Acejo, 23, was arrested on Friday after shooting a man in Phoenix on the corner of 21st Avenue and Thunderbird Road.

Acejo was riding his bicycle when he assumed another man was disrespecting him, a verbal argument broke out.

The argument led to Acejo pulling a handgun from his waistband and shooting the victim in his torso. The shot went through the victim and went through a living room window at a nearby home.

A man and woman were home at the time but did not sustain injuries from the gunshot.

Acejo fled the scene on his bike and was later found by police at a convenience store near the corner of Thunderbird Road and Interstate 17.

The gun used in the assault was recovered by police.

The 33-year-old victim was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries but is expected to survive.

Acejo was charged with one count of aggravated assault, two counts of endangerment and one count of discharging a firearm in the city.
