The lesson learned this week is don’t judge a book by its cover.
It was Thursday May 14, at about 6:30 p.m. when a suspect entered a Chase bank inside a Fry’s grocery store at 30th Street and Thomas Road.
Phoenix Police Sergeant Paul Penzone says he was dressed as a deliveryman, carrying a box. He approached the teller, told him he had a gun and ordered him into a back room.
He also ordered the other employee in the back room where he restrained them both.
The suspect emptied the vault into the box he was carrying and fled the bank on foot.
He is described as Hispanic in his twenties, about 5 feet 6 inches tall with a light complexion. He was wearing a blue shirt, beige pants and a dark blue baseball cap.
Anyone with information is asked to call Silent Witness at (480) WITNESS.
