PHOENIX — Sauce Pizza and Wine, a Valley-based fast-casual Italian chain, opened its first Tempe location Thursday.

The new restaurant is located at 705 S. Myrtle Ave., in a 2,960-square-foot space at the new Union Tempe mixed-use development near Arizona State University.

“Our new location will provide a fast and easy, yet quality, dining option to students, neighboring businesses, residents, and area visitors,” CEO Scott Kilpatrick said in a press release.

“We envision our new space being used to meet friends for lunch, pick up a couple of pizzas on the way back home or to the dorms, or to enjoy a date night with pasta and wine.”

The new spot has an atmosphere familiar to fans of the chain’s other locations plus elements unique to Tempe.

Local graphic designer Sage Aune created skateboard deck artwork for the restaurant with images and phrases that reference menu items and the locality.

Sauce serves pizza, sandwiches, pasta, salads and more plus a variety of beer and wine. It also offers catering packages.

The Tempe location will be open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Sauce now has nine metro Phoenix restaurants to go with four in Tucson, three in Texas and one in New Mexico.
