UPDATE: This event has been postponed because of concerns about the COVID-19 coronavirus.

PHOENIX – Dutch violinist and conductor André Rieu, aka “The King of Waltz,” is bringing his crowd-pleasing style of classical music to Phoenix in the spring.

Rieu, along with his Stradivarius violin and 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra, will kick off a short West Coast tour leg at Talking Stick Resort Arena on March 17.

Tickets, which start at $69 plus fees, go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Saturday.

According to Rieu’s website, Phoenix fans can expect to hear pieces ranging from “romantic, emotional ballads to the most gorgeous and celebrated waltzes.”

Rieu will arrive in the Valley after four East Coast performances, three in Florida and one in Georgia. Four U.S. dates added in addition to Phoenix are in California and Las Vegas.

Rieu, who turned 70 earlier this month, has a new album, “Happy Days,” due out Nov. 22. A week later, he’ll release “Christmas Down Under – Live from Sydney,” a DVD of a performance at the historic Sydney Town Hall.

We want to hear from you.
