FD: 1 dead, 1 hurt following head-on collision in Phoenix

PHOENIX — A head-on collision in Phoenix has left one woman dead and a man in serious condition.
According to the Phoenix Fire Department, emergency crews were called to the accident near 35th and Grand avenues around 4:30 p.m.
The woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene, had to be extricated from her vehicle, officials said.
The man, who’s in his 20’s, was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
Authorities are advising motorists to avoid the area as crews work to clear the crash.
