Chandler Mayor’s Day of Play heading to Tumbleweed Park

PHOENIX — Chandler’s annual get-out-and-go festival is back.
On Saturday, Oct. 19, Chandler Mayor’s Day of Play is in full swing at Tumbleweed Park from 8 a.m. to noon.
According to the event’s website, the festivities are to help kids “embrace the transformative power of play” and “spark family exploration.”
“It’s the city’s biggest celebration of play, and we’re looking forward to giving the community an unforgettable day of entertainment, while elevating the importance of kids and families living healthier and more active lifestyles,” Chandler mayor Kevin Hartke said in a press release.
“Day of Play truly continues Chandler’s commitment to make our neighborhoods more playful through recreation, sports and leisure activities.”

Events include a recreation village that features backyard archery and balloon tennis as well as the Foam Fusion, which has participants run through an inflatable obstacle course covered in foam. There’s also educational areas that provide tips on bike safety, child car seats and living a healthy lifestyle.
The festival is hosted by the City of Chandler, with partners and sponsors including Chandler Unified School District, Chandler Community Education and Waste Management.
