PHOENIX – A registered Republican was sentenced in an Arizona court to two years of probation after admitting he voted twice in the 2016 general election, authorities announced Thursday.
In August, Richard John Greenfield, 80, pleaded guilty to one count of attempted illegal voting, according to an Arizona Attorney General’s Office press release.
Greenfield also had his voting rights revoked while he is on probation.
His sentence included a $2,500 fine and the requirement of completing at least 100 hours of community service during his probation.
The Arizona Secretary of State’s Office identified Greenfield’s violation in 2018 and notified Attorney General Mark Brnovich’s office, the release said.
Greenfield admitted to voting in Pima County in southern Arizona as well as in Washoe County in northwest Nevada, according to the release.
The case was handled by the Fraud and Special Prosecutions Section of Brnovich’s office.
