PHOENIX — A global nonprofit with a Valley chapter has dedicated itself to inspiring young females to get involved in the tech industry.

Girls in Tech Phoenix works to engage, educate and empower females of all ages in achieving their personal and professional development goals through mentorship.

“Our goal is ending gender inequality in high-tech industries and startups,” Director of Human Resources with Trapp Technology Beth Schaefer told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Tuesday.

“We’re committed to the engagement, education, and empowerment of girls and women who are passionate about technology, entrepreneurships, and startups.”

Girls in Tech Phoenix holds bi-monthly mentorship events throughout the Valley. The events focus on networking.

Schaefer describes it as a place to meet like-minded women and tech enthusiasts in a relaxed setting to connect, network, inspire and gain career-building relationships.

With all genders welcome, their upcoming event on October 23rd is targeted to tech professionals.

“We try to get to know everyone in the room,” Schaefer said. “People have the ability to meet everyone and it’s nice because we have regulars now it’s a good connection building for a lot of people.”

The event is strategically designed to promote mentorship by forming connections with others that encourage professional and personal growth.

There will also be a planned guest speaker. Eva Kuehnert from Nextiva is a voice-over-internet-protocol company based in Scottsdale.

Nextiva focuses on cloud-based communication.

The event will take place at Keyser in Old Town Scottsdale beginning at 5 p.m. and concluding at 7 p.m. It’s $5 for students and $10 for general professionals.

We want to hear from you.
