PHOENIX — A West Valley suburb broke ground on Tuesday on a new multi-use recreation center.
The Goodyear Recreation Campus will include a 48,000-square-foot recreation facility, 30-acre park and a playground.
Construction of the facility is expected to be completed in the summer of 2021, according to a press release.
“This has been an undertaking of epic proportions,” Vice Mayor Bill Stipp said in the release. “It is certainly going to serve us for decades, and generations after generation will enjoy this campus.”
The facility will be located at West Estrella Street and South Harrison Parkway.
Other amenities include baseball and softball fields, an aquatic facility, an elevated jogging track and other assorted sports fields.
“We know that this campus is going to exceed all of our expectations,” Stipp said. “We’re very excited about that.”
