PHOENIX – Vice President Mike Pence will make a return visit to Arizona this week, starting with a Wednesday meeting with U.S. Sen. Martha McSally.

Pence will attend a reception for fellow Republican McSally, and then Thursday he will participate in a roundtable discussion with Hispanic leaders at a church in Scottsdale.

After that, Pence was scheduled to give remarks on the United States-Mexico-Canada trade agreement in Green Valley near Tucson.

He will travel back to Washington, D.C. on Thursday evening.

McSally will accompany the vice president in Scottsdale and Green Valley, her office told KTAR News 92.3 FM in an email.

The Arizona Democratic Party criticized Pence’s visit and support of McSally.

“It’s no surprise that the Vice President is making a fundraising trip to bail out unelected Sen. Martha McSally,” spokesman Brad Bainum said in a statement.

“From repeatedly voting to gut preexisting condition coverage protections to backing tax cuts for billionaires and corporations, McSally has proven that she puts her party first in Washington.”

Pence was also in the state in March and April.

In his first visit, Pence met with business leaders and also discussed President Donald Trump’s border emergency declaration to free up money to build a wall.

Pence singled out McSally and Democratic Sen. Kyrsten Sinema to support the declaration.

McSally supported the declaration; Sinema backed a House-approved resolution to oppose it.

The second time Pence visited, he took a trip to the border with Gov. Doug Ducey.

Pence thanked the agents for the jobs they were doing.

Late last week, Congress voted again to end the emergency declaration.

Trumps was expected to veto the measure, as he did in March.
