PHOENIX – Popular pizza chain Lou Malnati’s is heading west – Glendale – with plans to open a takeout spot there early next year.
ABC15 reported this week the Chicago-based pizza maker would be settling in at a new development near 75th Avenue and Loop 101.
It will be the first West Valley site for the deep-dish pizzeria, which has full-service restaurants in central Phoenix and north Scottsdale, and a small carryout and delivery location in east Phoenix.
Construction was expected to begin in October.
So far only Dunkin has been confirmed as another tenant at the 10,000-square-foot shopping center.
Lou Malnati’s arrived in the Valley in 2016 to much fanfare, setting up shop at Central Avenue and Camelback Road.
That was the first out-of-state parlor for the chain since it opened in 1971 in Illinois.
By 2017, the carryout-delivery-catering location was in business at 56th Street and Indian School Road.
The next sit-down eatery opened at Scottsdale Road and Loop 101 in 2018.
The company said at the time it wanted to open five to seven more locations in the Valley.
