PHOENIX – Your chance to bring home a new furry family member and save potentially hundreds of dollars is coming up Saturday.
That’s when both Maricopa County shelters will waive adoption fees on all animals, with no exclusions, according to an email from Maricopa County Animal Care and Control.
The shelters, which will be open for adoptions from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, are located at 2630 W. Rio Salado Parkway in Mesa and 2500 S. 27th Avenue in Phoenix.
The facilities are full, and officials want to avoid having to double up in the enclosures, the email said. So they reached out to the Bissell Pet Foundation, which agreed to sponsor the free adoptions.
All adoptions include vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip and, when applicable, license.
Regular adoption fees at the shelters run as high as $300 for dogs and $150 for cats.
As of Thursday afternoon, more than 600 dogs and 40 cats were listed online as available from the county shelters.
