PHOENIX — Looking for the perfect place to retire? Look no further than right here in the Valley.
WalletHub, a personal finance website, named Scottsdale as the third-best city in the United States to retire after releasing its annual list on Tuesday.
The ranking actually sees the northeast Valley suburb fall one spot from its 2018 ranking.
Four key metrics were used to compile the list of 182 cities: affordability, activities, quality of life and health care.
Scottsdale’s highest ranking came in the quality of life category at No. 3, trailing only Henderson, Nevada, and Fremont, California.
The northeast Valley suburb finished 22nd in activities, 58th in health care and 98th in affordability.
Scottsdale also only trails Pearl City, Hawaii, for the highest population percentage aged 65 and older, a slight dip from its No. 1 crown last year.
But when it comes to the best mild weather ranking, Scottsdale retained its top-five mark at the No. 4 spot.
Nine Arizona cities found themselves on the list of 182, the fourth-most of any state after California (29), Texas (16) and Florida (11).
Tempe came in at No. 35, with Tucson (the only non-Valley city from Arizona) ranked right behind at No. 36.
Peoria (No. 52) and Gilbert (No. 53) were the next two Arizona cities, the latter of which was deemed as the 11th-best city in the quality of life category.
Chandler (No. 72), Phoenix (No. 90), Mesa (No. 99) and Glendale (No. 114) would go on to round out the list.
Earlier this year, WalletHub ranked Arizona as the 14th-best state for retirement, a four-spot drop from its No. 10 ranking in 2018.
