PHOENIX – Two people crossing a street in Phoenix on Tuesday were hit by a truck, killing a woman and sending a man to the hospital with serious injuries.
Police said in an email Dawn Christa Cash and an unidentified man were at the intersection of Indian School Road and 16th Street around 9:15 p.m., when an eastbound pickup truck turned the corner.
Witnesses told officers the pedestrians had been walking against the light.
Cash, 49, died at the scene.
The 55-year-old man was expected to survive.
The 84-year-old driver remained at the accident site for questioning. Neither impairment nor speed appeared to be a factor, authorities said.
No other details were available.
