Pedestrian dead after motor vehicle collision in Phoenix

PHOENIX – An accident in north Phoenix Saturday night left one pedestrian dead, according to Phoenix police.
Around 11:04 p.m. Saturday, police said a 28-year-old man was traveling westbound in a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado pickup in the curb lane of Bell Road near 21st Street.
According to police, the Silverado struck a pedestrian.
Police identified the pedestrian as 54-year-old Manual Araiza. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injures.
The driver said he did not see the pedestrian before colliding with him and was unsure of which direction the pedestrian came from before the accident.
Police said the investigation is still ongoing.
