PHOENIX — A Scottsdale police officer was hospitalized early Saturday morning following a collision during a traffic stop.
Around 1:12 a.m., two Scottsdale police officers were conducting a traffic stop on Scottsdale Road.
One officer was running a records check in his vehicle, while the other was standing on the sidewalk.
During the stop, a northbound sedan operated by Silvia King, 33, collided with the rear of the unoccupied squad car, pushing it into the occupied patrol SUV.
Both officers were driving fully marked patrol vehicles with their emergency lights activated.
The officer was sent to a nearby hospital where he was treated for non-incapacitating injuries and released.
Further investigation into the incident revealed the driver had a blood alcohol content in excess of .170.
King was booked on misdemeanor charges of extreme DUI, reckless driving and endangerment.
