Gilbert hosting grand opening celebration for park in September

PHOENIX — The city of Gilbert is hosting a grand opening celebration next month to introduce its newest park.
The first phase of the Gilbert Regional Park will open Sept. 21 at 8 a.m., the city announced in a press release.
It will feature a 17-foot playground, a splash pad, 57 different water features and a separate playground for the park’s younger visitors.
The free event will run from 8-10 a.m. in the morning with a beach party theme and feature the opening of the park’s splash pad and a variety of food vendors.
The event will then pick back up from 6-9 p.m. The evening celebration will feature a laser light show and a live DJ.
Gilbert Mayor Jenn Daniels and other city council members will be in attendance for the event, according to the release.
The park is located at 3005 East Queen Creek Road.
