PHOENIX — KTAR News 92.3 FM and 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station wrapped up the first of two days of their fundraiser for the Phoenix Children’s Hospital, receiving donations of all kinds for the annual event.

Bonneville Phoenix’s two stations dedicated broadcast time for the Give-A-Thon from 2-7 p.m. on Wednesday and raised $427,257 during the five hours.

They will dedicate 14 hours (5 a.m.- 7 p.m.) on Thursday to raise money for the hospital.

Hosts from both stations spoke with guests from local sports teams, politicians and others who urged listeners to donate to the cause.

Last year, the Give-A-Thon brought in a record-breaking $1.7 million in 19 hours. Since 2009, the event has raised more than $12.8 million.

Listeners can call 602-933-4567 to donate or text “GIVE” to 411923 or 620620 for more details.

Anyone who becomes a Champion of Hope by pledging $20 per month will have a teddy bear delivered to a patient in their name. They will also receive their choice of a Papa John’s voucher for two medium pizzas or a Cobblestone Auto Spa full-service car wash.

More than 60 of the hospital’s programs are funded either entirely or in part through philanthropic efforts like the Give-A-Thon.

All donations made during the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Give-A-Thon go towards funding cutting-edge research, clinical programs, state-of-the-art equipment, family-friendly services that help ensure that the hospital can provide world-class care to each and every child that needs it.

Phoenix Children’s Hospital is one of the largest children’s hospitals in the nation with 433 beds.

We want to hear from you.
