PHOENIX – Nature lovers can raise a glass — or can — to one big donation to Arizona Game and Fish from a popular state brewery.

Mother Road Brewing, based in Flagstaff, donated $10,000 to the state agency this month from summer beer sales.

Dozens showed up to applaud the success of the beer makers, including Gov. Doug Ducey.

“These guys have found a way to do well and to do good for the state of Arizona by conserving and protecting our natural resources,” Ducey said.

Over Memorial Day weekend, Mother Road began selling its Conserve and Protect Kolsch-style Ale in limited quantities.

For every case sold, the brewery donated $1 to the department to help further conservation efforts for more than 800 species of Arizona wildlife.

Originally, this was intended to be a limited-time brew, but CEO Michael Marquess said customers clearly wanted more.

“Here’s the fun part of my job,” he laughed. “When things go really well and everyone’s enjoying it, I really don’t mind continuing a good partnership.”

Thanks to the ale’s popularity with nature lovers and beer drinkers, Mother Road has extended the contract with Game and Fish through 2020.

“It’s a win-win for everyone,” Marquess said.

We want to hear from you.
