PHOENIX — For prospective parents, looking for the ideal place to begin their family can be a tough task.
WalletHub ranked all 50 states and Washington, D.C., using cost, health care, baby-friendliness and family-friendliness statistics to figure out which areas reign supreme when it comes to having a bay.
Looking at Arizona, the state landed near the bottom half of the rankings, falling to No. 37.
Two scores greatly impacted the state, with health care (35th) and family-friendliness (40th) its two lowest.
Arizona was also middle of the road when it comes to cost, ranking 25th in the country.
The state fared the best in terms of baby-friendliness (based on parental-leave policy, mom groups, birth rate and nationally accredited child-care centers), coming in at No. 15.
Taking the top spot was Vermont, which boasted the No. 1 health care system and was fourth in terms of family-friendliness.
On the other side of the coin, Mississippi was last on the list, ranking 51st in health care and 49th in family-friendliness.
