PHOENIX — The Arizona Humane Society is asking the public to help it find homes for more than 40 pets while it undergoes emergency repairs.
The animal welfare group’s Sunnyslope Campus is undergoing $16,000 worth of emergency electrical repairs that could impact operations through Wednesday.
AHS said said in a press release that while it was able to connect 449 pets with new families over the weekend, there are still 42 animals that were relocated to the Nina Mason Pulliam Campus for Compassion in Phoenix and need homes.
“Recently, APS was actually out at our Sunnyslope location assessing a different issue and found that our electrical panels were in immediate need of emergency repair,” AHS spokeswoman Kelsey Dickerson told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Monday.

“As you can imagine, with power outages and things like that for these repairs, we really had to mobilize quickly to be able to get the animals out of those areas and into a safer spot where they’re going to be out of the heat.”
Dickerson said anyone interested in adopting a new cat or dog can check out information about them online before stopping in.
“It’s just really important that if you can adopt, come out, clear out the remaining kennels that we have, so we can continue to fast-track the sick, injured and abused pets that we care for,” she said.
