PHOENIX – Arizona’s court system and revenue department have enhanced their websites with new chat functions that debuted last week on the bottom-right corner of pages.

Visitors to Azcourts.gov can now interact with a chatbot called Gavel, while two Arizona Department of Revenue websites have added live chat capabilities.

The chat windows on AZDOR.gov and AZTaxes.gov are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Friday.

“ADOR Live Chat allows customers to interact with department representatives in real time and, depending on the inquiry, could mean the taxpayer receives information in a matter of seconds,” Arizona Department of Revenue Interim Director Carlton Woodruff said in a press release.

Taxpayers can use the pop-up application to ask general questions and receive navigational guidance.

The courts’ Gavel program features automated technology available 24 hours a day and can be used in English or Spanish.

The chatbot is programmed to answer frequently asked questions and help users navigate the website, which has nearly 2,000 pages.

Chief Justice Robert Brutinel said in a press release the feature will improve over time.

“This is one item directly out of the technology initiatives in my strategic agenda, and it will be one new way the courts promote access to justice,” he said.

“The faster and easier people can get answers to their questions, the better the court system works for everyone.”
