PHOENIX — Park University plans to expand its campus in downtown Gilbert, the town announced Tuesday.

The Missouri-based school will increase its footprint on Ash Street and Vaughn Avenue from 11,000 square feet to nearly 18,000, according to a press release.

The lease amendment approved by the town also extends the university’s initial three-year term to five years, through June 2023.

The school began its Gilbert classes in fall 2018, offering degrees in a variety of fields.

“It is gratifying to see that our enrollment in Gilbert is growing faster than our anticipated growth,” Dr. Greg Gunderson, university president, said in the release.

“We are grateful to the town of Gilbert for playing such an integral part in our success.”

The university will also kick off its first sports season this month, offering soccer, volleyball, golf, basketball, softball, baseball and beach volleyball this school year.

“Park University is immersed in the community and is a collaborative partner in support of Gilbert’s mission,” Mayor Jenn Daniels said in the release.

“As we work to build the ‘City of the Future,’ I look forward to supporting Park University’s expansion efforts.”
