PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Public Safety chased down and arrested a wrong-way driver who hit a patrol car Thursday afternoon.
DPS spokesman Bart Graves told KTAR News 92.3 FM they received a call of a Chevrolet Silverado driving west in eastbound Interstate 10 lanes near Chandler Boulevard.
Graves said a trooper tried to block the driver, but the vehicle hit the front left of the patrol car and kept going.
The Chevrolet went around another patrol car, then stopped in the emergency shoulder.
The driver got out of the car and tried to flee before troopers took him into custody.
Graves said there were no injures, and impairment was suspected.
This was the fourth incident of wrong-way driving in the Valley this week. Two happened on Loop 101 while the other was on Interstate 17.
Casa Grande and Prescott also saw wrong-way driving incidents this week, making a total of six in the state.
