PHOENIX – A handful of motor vehicle division offices, including two in metro Phoenix, will be closed this week while staff is trained in the new computer system, the overseeing agency said Monday.
The Arizona Department of Transportation said the closures in Chandler and Surprise, along with Kingman and Tucson North, would be unavailable for appointments and other transactions.
The agency said at least 30 of its services could be completed online.
Offices in Yuma and Parker made the computer-upgrade transition earlier this month.
Director John Halikowksi said in a blog post last week that modernizing the operating system was high on his department’s to-do list this year.
“We have made vast improvements to streamline our processes so you spend less time at our Motor Vehicle Division offices,” Halikowski wrote.
