PHOENIX — Authorities are seeking help identifying a man who was found dead in Tempe Town Lake last week.

Tempe police described the man as a 6-foot-2, 160-pound African-American male between 25 and 40 years old.

The man was further described to have short dark hair, a dark “petite goatee” on his chin, scars on his right shoulder and right wrist and no tattoos.

Tempe police said officers responded to the lake for a possible drowning around 1 p.m last Wednesday and found the man dead in the water.

“The male body was near the pedestrian foot bridge just to the east on the north part of the lake,” Natalie Barela, a detective with Tempe police, told KTAR News 92.3 FM last week.

Barela said last week it was too early to determine whether foul play was involved.

Anyone with any information about the identity of the deceased male is encouraged to contact Tempe Police at 480-350-8311.
