PHOENIX – Popular fast-food fried chicken chain Raising Cane’s will add a second location in Tempe and is expected to open before the end of the year.
Plans for the spot at McClintock Drive and Warner Road were approved by the city development review commission in December 2018.
The restaurant replaces a bank that was closed within the past two years.
The Phoenix Business Journal reported the company anticipated hiring about 80 workers and that it had signed a 20-year lease.
Armstrong Development Properties’ Scottsdale office has listed the building as 2,798 square feet and includes a drive-thru.
It will join a strip mall on the southwest corner anchored by Bashas’ supermarket and that has another eating place – Oink Cafe – and has competition at the other corners.
Across the street at one corner are Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant and Rosati’s Pizza; and a third corner has Zipp’s Sports Grill and Riga Tony’s Italian Restaurant.
Raising Cane’s has 15 other sites in the Valley and 20 in the state. The company website noted a second location in Tucson was coming soon, but no mention was made of the new Tempe restaurant.
