Man allegedly entered Phoenix home, tried to rape sleeping woman

PHOENIX — Phoenix police said Monday that a man allegedly entered an unlocked home and tried to sexually assault a sleeping woman.
Sgt. Tommy Thompson said Francisco Meza-Beltran, 32, entered the home near 28th Street and Osborn Road around 4:30 a.m.
Thompson said the woman woke up to Meza-Beltran trying to assault her. She fought back and called her son while the suspect fled, he said.
Meza-Beltran had previously entered another unlocked residence nearby and was confronted by a homeowner who was armed with a gun, Thompson said.
He said Meza-Beltran fled and was taken into custody when officers found him trying to climb onto the roof of a third home.
No other details were immediately available.
