PHOENIX — Have an itch to do some hunting in the Arizona wilderness, but don’t have the proper permit-tag?
You may be in luck as the Arizona Game and Fish Department will begin accepting applications for leftover hunt permit-tags starting July 22.
Hunting enthusiasts can apply for hunt permit-tags for 2019 deer, fall turkey and fall youth-only javelina.
In addition, hunters can also apply for muzzleloader deer, youth-only deer and youth-only muzzleloader deer.
According to Arizona Game and Fish, there are 968 leftover hunt permit-tags available for deer hunts. Most of the hunts are for antlered white-tailed deer only in Game Management Units in southeast Arizona.
The applications must be submitted by mail to be counted.
All paper applications must be addressed to Arizona Game and Fish Department, Attn: Draw/First Come, 5000 W. Carefree Highway, Phoenix, AZ, 85086.
There is no mini draw, and hunters should allow 10 to 15 business days to receive their hunt permit-tags in the mail.
Any remaining tags will be available for purchase on a first come, first served basis at all department locations starting July 29.
