PHOENIX – An international cyber protection company opened a research and development office and data center operations space in Tempe on Monday.

Acronis plans to staff the facility, located at Washington Street and Priest Drive, with 150 workers in engineering, sales, professional services and support, according to an Arizona Commerce Authority press release.

The company, which was founded in Singapore in 2003 and has headquarters in Switzerland, plans to invest $50 million into the Tempe operations over the next three years, the release said.

“We invite engineering experts and data center operations professionals from the city’s pool of talent to join our team and accomplish this exciting work on the cutting edge of technology,” Chairman and CEO Serguei Beloussov, who was in Tempe for the opening, said in the release.

Job openings are posted on Acronis’ careers page.

Tempe Mayor Mark Mitchell took part in Monday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“We’re excited that Acronis has chosen Tempe as their new home in the U.S.,” Mitchell said in the release.

“Our city prides itself on embracing innovation and being one of the nation’s top business destinations.”

Acronis’ services include blockchain-based data verification, artificial intelligence-based cyber threat protections and machine learning-based ransomware defense.

The company plans to collaborate with Arizona State University, the University of Arizona and other schools to develop and enhance its products.

Acronis serves 5.5 million consumers and 500,000 corporate clients in 145 countries with a global staff of more than 1,300 employees, according to its website.
