PHOENIX– After raising a record-breaking $4.1 million in the first quarter, Mark Kelly for Senate has announced that it raised $4.2 million in quarter two.

Kelly (D), the former astronaut who is now running to represent Arizona in the Senate, received donations from approximately 100,000 contributions, averaging under $45 per contribution. Since the beginning of his campaign, he has been given donations from over 85,000 contributors.

“This campaign started with a sonic boom just 140 days ago and it hasn’t slowed down,” Jen Cox, Kelly’s campaign manager, said in a press release.

“We’re proving that when you elevate Arizonans’ voices over corporate PACs, people respond, they want to be part of this mission,” she said. “We have a tradition of independent leadership here in Arizona and this outpouring of support shows that people are fed up and pitching in to elect a leader who will stand up for our state and what’s right.”

Kelly is running against current Arizona Senator Martha McSally (R). McSally lost the last senatorial election to Kyrsten Sinema (D) but was appointed by Gov. Doug Ducey to fill a vacant seat once held by John McCain (R).

As of today, the Federal Election Commission has not updated its website with quarter two earnings. However, McSally’s office is yet to release its campaign contribution total for the quarter.
