PHOENIX — A 17-year-old boy from Glendale was killed after he was stabbed at a Circle K early Thursday morning.

Peoria police said they arrived to a report of a stabbing at the convenience store near 67th and Peoria avenues around 1:45 a.m.

Michael Adams, 27, allegedly came up to the victim in the store and stabbed him in the neck area before leaving on foot. Adams had been released from prison on Tuesday for other convictions including aggravated assault, according to Corrections Department records.

The 17-year-old was taken to the hospital but died from his injuries.

Police said they located Adams nearby, took him into custody and found his weapon.

There does not appear to be any relation between the suspect and victim or clear motive for the stabbing, police said.

Adams was booked into jail on murder charges.

“We are committed to detailed and complete investigations and we will determine why this violent act occurred,” Chief Art Miller said in a press release.

“On behalf of the men and women of the Peoria Police Department we extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim.”
