PHOENIX — In a list comprised of the top 100 places to celebrate the Fourth of July, Scottsdale was ranked 12th.
WalletHub used five key dimensions to properly rate cities on the list.
The dimensions are Fourth of July celebrations, affordability, attractions & activities, safety & accessibility and Fourth of July weather forecast. Scottsdale’s individual dimensions rated as follows: Celebrations (54), affordability (3), attractions & activities (23), safety (35) and weather (29).
Each dimension is broken down into a number of weighted metrics. An average across all metrics was used to calculate a city’s overall score.
Scottsdale received a total rating of 61.43 out of 100. New York ranked first on the list with a rating of 74.01.
Scottsdale received the highest overall ranking out of the seven Arizona cities that made the list. Phoenix, Tucson, Chandler, Glendale, Mesa and Gilbert all landed comfortably within the top 65.
The website ranked Phoenix as the No. 1 most affordable place in the country to celebrate Independence Day.
Fortunately for Arizona’s high ranking cities, they were left off some of the negative sub-categories such as worst weather forecast and most DUI-related fatalities per capita.
People traveling to the Valley for the holiday weekend will be pleased to know three Arizona cities ranked amongst the top five cheapest 3-star hotels.
