PHOENIX – A metro Phoenix shelter is reducing adoption fees for dogs and cats at two locations this weekend after taking in extra animals to help a facility impacted by the Woodbury Fire.
Arizona Animal Welfare League & SPCA received 11 adoptable animals this week from the Gila County Animal Shelter, which needed space to accommodate pets displaced by Woodbury Fire evacuation orders in the Roosevelt Lake area.
The AAWL also has pending requests from other rescue partners.
To make room, the shelters at 40th and Washington streets in Phoenix and inside Chandler Fashion Center are offering $20 adoption fees for adult dogs and cats Friday through Sunday.
The fee for puppies is being reduced from $485 to $200 during the weekend, too.
The state’s largest and oldest no-kill shelter vaccinates, spays/neuters and microchips all adoptable pets and provides a free month of pet insurance, one bag of food and behavior helpline access for new owners.
