PHOENIX – A new upscale restaurant specializing in Japanese dishes with Korean influences is opening its doors Thursday in Scottsdale’s McCormick Ranch area.
OBON Sushi + Bar + Ramen, located at the corner of Hayden Road and McCormick Parkway, is the Tucson-based concept’s second Valley location.
It will be one of the first businesses to open at The Grove, a new shopping and dining destination.
“We are excited to offer the neighborhood a conveniently located spot at The Grove — a place where our guests can share a meal with friends and family, sit down for a lunch meeting over sake and sushi, or simply grab a late-night craft cocktail,” Brandon Katz, founder of Fukushū Restaurant Concepts, said in a press release.
The restaurant will be open for dinner only, from 4 to 11 p.m., through Sunday. After that, the permanent hours will be 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 11 a.m.-midnight Thursday through Saturday.
To celebrate the opening, OBON will have happy hour offerings from open to close throughout July.
Starting in August, happy hour will be 3-6 p.m. daily, with reverse happy hour daily from 10 p.m. until closing.
The 3,200-square-foot location features a large bar that serves beer, wine, sake and craft cocktails, slide-away window walls and a 1,600-square-foot patio.
The menu features a variety of shareable plates, steamed buns, ramen and sushi.
OBON’s other Valley location is in the Scottsdale Quarter at Scottsdale Road and Greenway Parkway.
