PHOENIX – Motorists heading into the Phoenix area from the south this weekend won’t be able to take Interstate 10 because of a freeway closure.
Westbound I-10 will be shut down between State Route 347 (Queen Creek Road) and the Loop 202 Santan Freeway from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.
In addition, the westbound on-ramps at Queen Creek Road and the westbound on- and off-ramps at Wild Horse Pass Boulevard will be closed.
Crews will work on overhead signage for the future South Mountain Freeway interchange during the closure. Two additional closures of the area will be scheduled later this summer to complete the work.
Valley-bound drivers on I-10 will have to exit at Queen Creek Road, go east to Price Road, north to the Loop 202 Santan Freeway and east back to the I-10 westbound.
