Former US Sen. Jeff Flake accepts position as Harvard fellow

PHOENIX – Former U.S. Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona is going to the Ivy League, joining the Harvard resident fellows program in the fall.

Flake, a Republican who spent 12 years in the House of Representatives, said in a tweet posted Thursday morning he looked forward to being at the famous Massachusetts campus.

Flake announced he wasn’t running for re-election in October 2017. During his announcement from the Senate floor, he pointed to the divisive culture created under the president.

Since leaving lawmaking in January, Flake has been a contributor to CBS News and joined the board of a Scottsdale-based homebuilder.

He will be joined at the Harvard program by LaTosha Brown, co-founder of the Black Voters Matter Fund; Bob Cohn, president of The Atlantic; and Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado, a former Panamanian vice president and foreign minister.
