PHOENIX – Federal agents executing an arrest warrant in a Phoenix suburb shot two suspects late Wednesday, shutting down part of a highway for the investigation.
The investigation closed off U.S.60/Grand Avenue in El Mirage around 11 p.m. from Thompson Ranch Road to 113th Avenue. Both directions were affected for several hours, and the road reopened around 8:15 a.m. Thursday
FBI spokeswoman Jill McCabe said in an email three suspects were in a vehicle when a Violent Crimes Task Force attempted to make contact.
The third suspect was uninjured.
McCabe said no agents were injured.
In a Thursday evening email, McCabe said the subject of the original warrant, Ernesto Izaguirre, was in custody of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
She said an FBI shooting incident review team is investigating the shooting, which is standard practice.
No other information was immediately available.
