PHOENIX – Three people arrested after a drug bust in an Arizona Mills parking lot yielded thousands of fentanyl pills have been indicted on multiple counts by a state grand jury, authorities said.

Edwin Radames Veliz-Flores, 40, Ines Helena Acosta, 34, and Roberto Yescas, 40, were each indicted last week on felony charges of conspiracy, illegally conducting an enterprise, transportation of narcotic drugs for sale over the statutory threshold and offer to sell or transfer a narcotic drug over the threshold.

According to an email Wednesday from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, sheriff’s detectives and Homeland Security Investigation agents observed what they thought was a drug deal outside the Tempe mall June 5.

When the investigators moved in, Yescas jumped into a vehicle driven by Acosta, and they tried to flee by driving over a curb, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said earlier this month.

Responding units blocked escape routes and took all three suspects into custody.

Detectives seized approximately 14,000 pills laced with fentanyl in two packages with an estimated street value of $154,000, authorities said.
