PHOENIX – Allegiant Air has added two nonstop routes to the schedule at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, the company announced Tuesday.
Service to McAllen, Texas, was scheduled to start Oct. 3, and travel to Redmond, Oregon, was to begin Oct. 4.
Special one-way fares to the southern Texas city started at $79, while deals to the eastern Oregon city started at $69.
The deals lasted until Wednesday.
“These new nonstop destinations will be very popular,” J. Brian O’Neill, the airport’s executive director, said in a partial statement.
The routes will fly twice a week. The airport estimated the flights would combine to bring about 36,000 travelers a year to the Valley.
“We’re excited to announce yet another expansion in one of the most popular and longest-standing destinations in our network,” Drew Wells, Allegiant vice president of planning and revenue, said in a press release.
The low-cost carrier added year-round flights out of the Mesa facility to Grand Junction, Colorado, and Kalispell, Montana, in January.
Those routes began operating in April.
Gateway served more than 1.5 million passengers in 2018, a facility record.
The airport opened in 1994.
