PHOENIX — Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey on Thursday visited President Donald Trump at the White House as part of a bipartisan discussion on workforce mobility.
Ducey was among several governors present, but got special recognition because of Arizona’s proactivity on the issue.
Arizona in April became the first state to recognize out-of-state occupational licenses for new residents.
The law makes it easier for new Arizona residents to begin working immediately.
“I was proud to represent our great state today at the White House and share how Arizona is eliminating burdensome government regulations and paving the way for opportunity for all our citizens,” Ducey said Thursday.
“This isn’t a Democrat or Republican issue, it’s something we can all agree on, by empowering all individuals and businesses to succeed.”
Great discussion with @POTUS at the @WhiteHouse about ways to improve workforce mobility. Arizona has taken the lead on these efforts and we will continue to be #OpenForOpportunity @GovKemp @GovHawaii @IAGovernor @GovChrisSununu @GovernorTomWolf @GovBillLee @GovernorGordon

Joining Ducey and Trump at the White House were Gov. Mark Gordon (R-Wyoming), Gov. David Ige (D-Hawaii), Gov. Brian Kemp (R-Georgia), Gov. Bill Lee (R-Tennessee), Gov. Kim Reynolds (R-Iowa), Gov. Chris Sununu (R-New Hampshire) and Gov. Tom Wolf (D- Pennsylvania).
“I look forward to putting into practice the ideas and policies discussed today so Arizona can continue to be a national leader in growing jobs and opportunity,” Ducey said.
