PHOENIX — As the summer heat ramps up, Arizonans are finding some relief at the gas pump.
The average gas price in the state has been dropping closer to $3 since it peaked at $3.18, according to GasBuddy.
“Phoenix has seen a nice decline in the last week — it’s down by about 8 cents to $3.07, so it’s knocking on the door,” Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy analyst, told KTAR News 92 3. FM on Thursday.
“But Arizona probably will fall back under $3 a gallon for a statewide average in the next, say, 72 hours or so.”
According to GasBuddy price reports, #gasprices across the country have dropped in almost every state, with the national average at its lowest point since early April. https://t.co/hkJ66bnuCG pic.twitter.com/mxkIflpZtz

DeHaan said falling oil prices and refineries getting back online after technical issues are responsible for the dip.
The state still sat far above the national average of $2.73 per gallon, the lowest it’s been since early April, according to GasBuddy.
Arizona was among the nine states with an average price above $3 as of Thursday.
This was the fifth straight week that the country’s average gas price has dropped.
