PHOENIX — A woman was arrested last week for allegedly intentionally driving her car into three Phoenix police officers.
According to Detective Luis Samudio, two officers were seated in a parked patrol car talking to another officer standing outside of his car around 11:45 p.m. on June 4.
Lori Relf, 56, accelerated from a gas pump near 16th Street and Baseline Road and deliberately swerved toward the officers, striking the back of the patrol car, Samudio said.
He said the impact caused the patrol car to turn sideways and eject one of the officers, leaving two officers with minor injuries.
After the crash, Relf and two passengers exited her car and remained on scene, Samudio said. She was evaluated by detectives, who found signs of impairment.
According to ABC15, Relf admitted to smoking crack cocaine two hours before the incident and said she was trying to get the officers’ attention because the men in her car were holding her against her will.
The TV station said the men told police they smoked crack with Relf but were not holding her against her will.
Relf was booked for aggravated assault, criminal damage and DUI.
